Current events Week 4 Hot Topics

Do these prisoners have the right to a prestigious college education? Between them they have to serve 600 years in prison. If some of these prisoners are serving life sentences is it even worth them taking this course? Every Wednesday regular students come and take part of the discussion with these inmates, how would you feel if you had a class with murders, drug dealers, and kidnappers? Would their viewpoints be different than yours? Are these people all thugs that shouldn’t be listened too, or could they raise valid points in a intellectual discussion?

  1. I don't think they should have the right to prestigious college education because they are in jail for a reason and they shouldn't have the same rights as we have. I don't think it would be worth them taking this course if they are serving life in prison because they will not be able to use it in their life at ny time. If i had a class with murders, drug dealers, and kidnappers i would be very scared and i wouldn't like it at all. I don't think i would take the class due to my safety. Their viewpoints would deffinately be different then mine because obviously they have different minds if they think about killing people. I think these people are all bad people because if you do the crime you do the time.

  2. I think everyone has the right to get a collage education. If I had a course with a murderer i would be a little scared. but i dont think it would be all that bad because most of them had the killings planed out & they knew who they wanted to kill. some were just an accident & others only killed the person because that person did something to them. I dont think their viewpoints would be any different than ours because were all people. I think they should be listened too because they have thoughts and theyre not all bad ones.
